Part of Women in Translation Month, this literary event features translator Annelise Finegan discussing the newly released English edition of My Sister’s Red Shirt by renowned Chinese author Tie Ning. The conversation will be joined by China specialist and writer Paul French.

First published in 1984, My Sister’s Red Shirt is a semi-autobiographical novella set during China’s reform era. It tells the coming-of-age story of two sisters navigating conformity and rebellion in a rapidly changing society.

The event includes a discussion on Chinese literature, translation, and women’s voices in fiction. Attendees can enjoy a 15% discount on books purchased at the venue.
