🏷️ Description:
This talk by Dr Chun-Chi Wang explores the work of Taiwanese documentary filmmaker Hsu Hui-Ju (許慧如) within the evolving landscape of feminist documentary practices in Taiwan. Rather than offering direct critique, Hsu’s films foreground what Wang calls a “cinema of care” through visual and narrative strategies that emphasize mutual vulnerability and healing. The talk will examine Hsu’s duologies Hard Good Life and Temporary/The Tunnel and the use of haptic imagery, reflective narration, and participatory techniques in her filmmaking.
