In this special live conversation, internationally acclaimed artist and activist Ai Weiwei will discuss his personal experiences with censorship and the global spread of authoritarianism. In dialogue with BBC journalist Stephen Sackur, Weiwei will reflect on his life—from being raised in a labour camp to enduring surveillance and secret detention by the Chinese state—and on the global rise of censorship, including its subtler forms in democratic societies. The event will also mark the launch of Ai Weiwei’s latest book, On Censorship.
