🏷️ Description:
This talk, part of the CSC International Research Webinar Series, examines the Chinese Communist Party’s newly established Department of Social Work, launched in March 2023. Under Xi Jinping’s leadership, the CCP has intensified control over civil society and governance structures. Professor Frank Pieke will explore how the new department enhances party discipline across social organizations, grassroots governance, and private enterprises, assessing whether this development signals a neo-socialist governance model or further entrenches party authoritarianism.

💬 The event includes a livestream and a Q&A session moderated by Professor Bingqin Li.
