Over the past 25 years, U.S. economic and financial policy toward China has undergone a profound shift โ€” from promoting international integration and shared prosperity to a strategic focus on competition in areas such as advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and the global financial system.

In this keynote event, economist Lael Brainard โ€” former Director of the White House National Economic Council and Vice Chair of the Federal Reserve โ€” reflects on the evolution of U.S. economic strategy toward China. Drawing on her direct experience in top policy positions, Brainard will offer insights into what has worked, what hasnโ€™t, and what the future may hold for U.S.โ€“China economic relations.
